Hi! I’m Lisa . . .
Big law attorney turned college professor turned elementary school educator and consultant. Now I am a full-time writer and entrepreneur. How’s that for an interesting bio?
I’m a voracious reader, incessant questioner, and lover of words. I’m insatiably curious and love to meet people new and learn new things. But there’s nothing I love more than helping entrepreneurs and other would-be authors find the words to inspire others with their message.
Well, except for coffee. I really like coffee. And red wine. And mint chocolate chip ice-cream.
By day, I am a ghost writer, editor and writing coach. It is my job to get the stories out of your heads and into the minds of those who need to hear them. Basically, I help people help people. And this in turn helps the original people (aka YOU). It’s a win, win, win!
Think about this: when it comes to books there are three kinds of people in this world:
- people who buy the book
- people who read the book
- people who wrote the book.
(We won’t worry about those people who never even heard of the book . . . this is a website about writing after all).
It’s my mission to help more people move into that third category. I truly believe one of the best ways to build authority is to have a book with YOUR NAME on the cover. There are tons of people offering products, processes, services, and ideas – many of which might be similar to yours. One way to differentiate yourself from the crowd is to write a book.
A book with your name on it tells the world that you are intelligent, inspired, informed, disciplined, and trustworthy. And it’s an admirable accomplishment in its own right. Plus, once you do publish you will have increased opportunities for media spots and speaking engagements. That’s why one of my favorite sentences is,
“I’m ready to finally write that book.”
I know that this decision will open doors and help to transform your life.
Don’t want to write a book? That’s okay too. You’re still welcome here.
I create various kinds of content that solves problems for your audience, spreads your message, and helps build your reputation, including:
- Blog posts
- Articles
- Case studies
- Newsletters
- Keynotes
- Courses
These are just a few of the services I can provide to you. Over time, this content builds relationships, increases exposure and establishes authority, which all leads to increased business opportunities for you.
Two decades of practicing law and teaching higher education have provided me with meticulous research skills, excellent writing skills and the ability to influence others. Which is exactly what you want quality content to do for you.
As a lawyer, I perfected the art of persuasive storytelling and used the power of words to win arguments. As a college professor (and elementary school teacher) I used my innate understanding of human behavior to design effective, informative, and engaging lessons appropriate for each audience. I am an expert at clarifying complex information and making it simple to understand.
All successful relationships are built upon a foundation of trust and I work to establish that trust with my clients. I need to understand your unique content goals and become familiar with your voice and you need to feel comfortable with me before you trust me to write on your behalf. My clients often say that our information gathering sessions feel like conversations with an old friend. I consider that a compliment.
When I am not working, you will likely still find me in front of my laptop writing a freelance article or working on my YA novel. I am also a Pilates instructor and I love to use the Reformer to stretch my muscles and relieve stress.
In my spare time, I might be baking (bread, cookies, cakes – whatever), training for a half-marathon, and failing fabulously at DIY projects that looked so easy on HGTV. Occasionally, I even sit down long enough to watch Brooklyn 99, Mad Men, or Gossip Girl with one of my kids.
Speaking of kids, I’m a wife and mom of three kids, ages 17, 14, and 11. They plan to be a rock star, psychiatrist, and celebrity chef/restauranteur, respectively, when they grow up. I’d say we’ve done a pretty good job teaching them to chase their dreams and I sincerely hope they achieve them because I want to write their books one day.
In the meantime, though, I’ll be more than happy to help you write yours.
You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.
